AdvanceRetail POS v2.8 P10 GR is a point-of-sale system for retail, built by AdvanceRetail Technology. Traces back to a 1968 Burroughs bureau in New Zealand, which makes it one of the oldest retail systems still selling in this market.
Certified on Linkly, running in the cloud. Linkly reaches more acquirers than any other middleware in the market, which is why most POS start there.
The Linkly integration runs in the cloud.
AdvanceRetail started in 1968 as a Burroughs bureau service in New Zealand and has been rebuilt roughly once a decade since: its in-house Omnibus software in 1980, the ShopMaster DOS POS in 1990, AdvanceRetail for Windows in 1998, SmartStore mobile POS in 2014, and Version 3 in 2026. Very few systems on the Australian market can show that kind of continuous line. It runs offices in Auckland and Sydney.
The target is specialty retail — multi-store chains and franchises across electronics, fashion, footwear, homewares, liquor, pharmacy, jewellery, books, telco and hardware. Named customers include New Zealand department store Farmers, signed in 2006, and Pandora across both Australia and Asia, signed around 2014-15. It also appointed distributors through Malaysia, China, Hong Kong and Ireland in the early 2000s.
Ownership has moved twice. 3Q Holdings acquired it in 2007, and in 2022 it became part of Vela APX, an operating group of Toronto-listed Constellation Software. That is the same portfolio as Tower Systems, Surefire, ACR, Independent Solutions and Apparel21 — a large share of the Australian specialty retail POS market now under one owner.
AdvanceRetail Technology also has AdvanceRetail POS.
