About Bendigo and Adelaide Bank

Bendigo began in 1858 as a terminating building society on the Bendigo goldfields, and Bendigo Bank and Adelaide Bank merged in 2007. It holds A$117.29 billion in total residents’ assets on APRA’s July 2026 statistics.

It does not hold its own merchant acquiring and has not since 2020. Under an agreement announced on 16 October 2020, Tyro became Bendigo’s exclusive merchant acquiring partner for business banking customers, consolidating seven previous merchant arrangements into one, with deployment from the first half of 2021.

The live product is branded Bendigo Bank EFTPOS and eCommerce powered by Tyro, and Bendigo’s own disclaimer states it is issued by Tyro Payments Limited ACN 103 575 042, with Bendigo receiving commercial remuneration. Bendigo is an ADI, an AusPayNet participant member and an AP+ scheme member — most likely on the issuing side, which is exactly why membership lists mislead on acquiring.
