Maitre'd vMD2005 SP3 HF3 is a point-of-sale system for hospitality, built by Custom Hospitality Systems. A Canadian restaurant POS with 20,000-plus venues behind it, and a payments company bought the business that makes it in 2020.

Maitre'D is Posera's flagship restaurant POS. Posera launched in 1989, based in London, Ontario, and traded on the Toronto Stock Exchange. In early February 2020 the Canadian payment technology company PayFacto completed its acquisition of Posera for C$14.5 million in cash, on a cash-free debt-free basis, picking up Maitre'D along with Posera's kitchen display system and SecureTablePay. PayFacto had flagged the intention in November 2019, and Posera kept its own brand as a PayFacto subsidiary. Posera's customer base was put at more than 20,000 restaurants.

Note that your POS vendor is now a payments company. PayFacto's stated goal is to become one of the world's leading providers of payment and technology solutions to hospitality, and it bought Resto Finances and its Veloce POS in the same move. That is a different set of incentives to a pure software house, and it is worth raising when you talk about which acquirer you want to keep.

The version in this record is a dated on-premise build, which says something about the install base: Maitre'D venues tend to be long-running full-service restaurants that bought once and kept running it. In Australia it reaches merchants through Custom Hospitality Systems, trading as CHSPOS, which covers fine dining and full service, fast food and catering, cafes and bakeries, bars, pubs and nightclubs, with engineers on call seven days a week.
