Alchemii — practice software and bank compatibility

Alchemii is practice-management software for health, built by Foresiight Software. Pharmacy retail software built on Foresiight's ProfiitPlus platform, aimed squarely at community and Friendlies pharmacies.

Alchemii is Foresiight's pharmacy product, built on the same ProfiitPlus platform the company sells into trade supply businesses. It runs point of sale, stock control, membership and accounting off one database with real-time information, rather than bolting a till onto a separate accounting system. Foresiight pitches it hardest at community pharmacies, including the Friendlies groups.

The pharmacy-specific plumbing is what separates it from a general retail till: it integrates with dispensary software and with PharmX, the electronic ordering gateway that sits between pharmacies and wholesalers. It also handles multi-store operations, loyalty programs, eCommerce and a paperless office module. Foresiight advertises in excess of 600 customisable options and settings, which tells you the philosophy — configure it hard rather than keep it simple.

Foresiight is part of Vela APX, the Constellation Software operating group that also owns Tower Systems, Surefire, ACR, Independent Solutions and AdvanceRetail. The dispensary side of a pharmacy and the retail side are usually two separate systems talking to each other, so when you are sorting out EFTPOS the question is which of the two the terminal integrates with, and what happens at the counter when a script and a front-of-shop sale go through together.
