FRED POS is a point-of-sale system for pharmacy retail and retail, built by Fred IT Group. The front-of-shop till from the pharmacy software house Telstra Health now owns outright.
Certified on Linkly and on Tyro. Worth knowing the difference: Tyro is its own acquirer, so that route means banking with Tyro. The Linkly route does not.
Tyro rates it a Premium partner — their top tier.
The Linkly integration runs on premise.
Fred IT grew up alongside the Pharmacy Guild of Australia — the Guild's Victoria Branch was an owner for more than three decades. Telstra Health bought 50 per cent in 2013 and the rest in May 2024, from the Guild's Victorian branch and co-founder Paul Naismith, who remained CEO. Fred is now a Telstra Health business end to end.
FRED POS is the retail counter rather than the dispensary: the front-of-shop side of a pharmacy, where the script, the vitamins and the sunscreen all have to land on one docket. The reason pharmacies care so much about the payment integration is that the dispense record and the sale have to reconcile, and a standalone terminal breaks that.
Worth noting the same group also runs eRx, the electronic prescription exchange, so Telstra Health sits on both sides of the prescription workflow.
Fred IT Group also has FRED NXT and FRED POS PLUS.
