Future Business Systems Windows POS is a point-of-sale system for retail, built by Future Business Systems. The till half of a Melbourne software house that has been trading since 1982 — and it is in over 2,000 shops across Australia and New Zealand.
Certified on Linkly, running on premise. Linkly reaches more acquirers than any other middleware in the market, which is why most POS start there.
The Linkly integration runs on premise.
The product is properly spelled WinPos, and it is the point of sale front end that sits on top of Harmony, Future Business Systems' integrated accounting and back-office system. WinPos covers customer ordering, stocktake and real-time stock lookup across stores, and FBS says it is "currently used in over 2000 retail outlets throughout Australia and New Zealand." For a company with next to no public profile, that is a serious installed base.
FBS itself has been going since 1982 out of Melbourne, selling ERP and POS together rather than one or the other. Harmony handles multiple companies, cost centres, currencies and countries, online order management, stock consolidation, automated replenishment, web APIs and EDI import of big customers' sales orders. PIMdrop sits alongside for product information management. The integrations tell you who buys it: Afterpay and Klarna on payments, Shippit and Australia Post and StarTrack on freight, DataTools for address validation, Slyp for digital receipts — a multi-store retailer running click-and-collect and ship-from-store.
The ownership is the thing a merchant should take away. FBS describes itself as "A Vela Software Group company" and is listed in the Vela APX portfolio, an operating group of Toronto-listed Constellation Software — the same parent as Tower Systems, Surefire, ACR, AdvanceRetail, Apparel21, Independent Solutions, Beacon and Island Pacific. Because WinPos is the module that actually touches the terminal, start the EFTPOS conversation there rather than with the ERP.
Future Business Systems also has Future Business Systems and Harmony.
