ezi-POS — bank compatibility

ezi-POS is a point-of-sale system for butchers and grocers and retail, built by Gap Solutions. Adelaide, 1992, and a thousand retailers deep in the trades where the scale and the till have to be the same transaction.

Certified on mx51 and on Tyro. Worth knowing the difference: Tyro is its own acquirer, so that route means banking with Tyro. The mx51 route does not.

Certified to do cash out, phone and mail order and surcharging. Tyro rates it a Power Up partner.

The mx51 integration uses Spice and was last certified in December 2019, on Windows.

GaP Solutions was established in Adelaide in 1992 and has stayed in the food and fuel end of retail ever since: grocery, fuel and forecourt, bakery, butcher, liquor, fast food, fruit and veg, and seafood. It reports more than 1,000 retail customers and over 5,000 point of sale lanes across Australia and New Zealand, and names Shell, Metcash, Coles, IGA and Foodland among its clients.

The thing that separates it from a general POS is weighing. GaP builds its own Ezi Scale hardware alongside the software, so the scale, the label printer and the till are one system. For a butcher or a seafood shop that is the whole decision — a POS that cannot drive a trade-approved scale is not a candidate.

The forecourt side is a separate problem again: fuel POS has to talk to pumps and tank gauges, which is why very few general retail products show up in service stations.
