Imagatec is an Australian company running out of a Brisbane head office, and it is one of the few hospitality POS vendors of any size left in this market that has not been swallowed by a Canadian or American acquirer. The directors are Trevor Turnbull, listed as Director and Software Architect, and Brian Howard-Clarke as Managing Director. The company says its software is already in use by hundreds of clients, and the two names it puts forward are Hogs Breath Café and Montezuma's — both multi-site franchise groups, which tells you it can handle more than a single venue.

The product family is built around prefixed modules: iPOS as the core till, iPizza for pizza shops, iWash for carwashes, plus iWarehouse, iOrder and iPortal. It is pitched as developed especially for cafes and restaurants, extending into quick service and, unusually, carwashes and carwash cafes. That carwash line is a genuine niche — a site where the sale is a service with upsells and the customer never sits down — and very few POS vendors bother with it.

Deployment is offered either in-store or cloud-based, which matters for payments because the two paths often certify differently. Imagatec appears as an integration partner for multiple payment providers, so there is choice here rather than one locked-in arrangement. If you are shopping, the useful question is which specific module your venue would run and whether you are going on-premise or cloud, because that pair decides your terminal options.
