SMARTFUELPOS is a point-of-sale system for fuel and retail, built by Independent Solutions. Forecourt software from a 25-year-old Australian independent retail specialist that is now part of the Constellation Software empire.
Certified on Linkly, running on premise. Linkly reaches more acquirers than any other middleware in the market, which is why most POS start there.
The Linkly integration runs on premise.
Independent Solutions has spent more than 25 years selling point of sale and back office into independent grocery, liquor, convenience and fuel. Fuel is a core focus rather than a sideline — the company has said its solutions are aimed at all fuel retailers, not just the big branded networks, and it makes a point of working with single-site and small-group operators who get ignored by the enterprise vendors.
The fuel product is published as Flexi-Fuel, which handles forecourt management and integrates with the Profit-Track POS and back office. A Head Office Management System combining the grocery and fuel expertise was flagged for release. Hardware and integration partners include Zebra, HP, Toshiba and Linkly.
Ownership has changed: Independent Solutions is now part of Vela APX, an operating group of Toronto-listed Constellation Software, which also owns Beacon Software in the same fuel and convenience niche. Two vendors a service station operator might put head to head are in the same portfolio. Before you shop terminals, confirm with Independent Solutions which named product your site runs — SMARTFUELPOS is not a name in their current published range.
Independent Solutions also has Guardian.
