Karisma — practice software and bank compatibility

Practice management software by Kestral Computing · All point-of-sale systems

  • health

Karisma is practice-management software for health, built by Kestral Computing. A radiology information system out of Heidelberg in Melbourne — and since 2012 it has belonged to Canada's Constellation Software.

Certified on Linkly, running on premise. Linkly reaches more acquirers than any other middleware in the market, which is why most POS start there.

The Linkly integration runs on premise.

Karisma is Kestral Computing's radiology information system, and it is worth being precise: this is clinical software, not a point of sale. Kestral has built radiology information systems and pathology laboratory systems for more than twenty years, out of Heidelberg in Melbourne's north-east, selling into Australia, New Zealand and parts of Asia. Everything it ships is designed, developed, tested and supported in Australia.

Ownership is the part most practices have never been told. Constellation Software completed its acquisition of Kestral Computing on 4 April 2012, buying it through Gary Jonas Computing — Jonas Software — which is how a Melbourne clinical software house ended up inside a Toronto-listed serial acquirer. Constellation's habit is to leave the brand and the team alone, so nothing changed on screen.

For an imaging practice the question is never whether it can take a card, it is whether it can claim. Karisma sits at the front desk, so what matters is Medicare Easyclaim and HealthPoint going through at the moment the patient settles the gap. One of its larger reference sites is TRG Group in New Zealand, a radiologist-owned business that moved 22 facilities across five subsidiaries onto Karisma — Lakes Radiology, Northern Radiology, The Radiology Group in Auckland, Waikato Radiology and Hawke's Bay Radiology.

Kestral Computing also has Phoenix.
