Microsoft Dynamics AX for Retail is a point-of-sale system for retail, built by Microchannel Services. The implementer behind it was bought by Fujifilm at the start of 2023 for a reported $100 million — and the Microsoft product itself is a generation behind the current one.
Certified on Linkly, running on premise. Linkly reaches more acquirers than any other middleware in the market, which is why most POS start there.
The Linkly integration runs on premise.
Two separate things are worth untangling here. The software is Microsoft Dynamics AX for Retail, a previous-generation Microsoft ERP with a retail and POS layer, since superseded by Dynamics 365. The company in this record is the implementer: MicroChannel, whose heritage dates to 1995 and which specialises in deploying and supporting Microsoft business applications across ERP, CRM, retail, warehousing, marketing automation, field service and business intelligence.
The ownership change is the news. FUJIFILM Business Innovation — the IT advisory arm of the Japanese group — acquired MicroChannel Services at the start of 2023, and the business began trading as FUJIFILM MicroChannel on 1 March 2023. The deal was reported at around $100 million and added more than 200 professionals in the region; MicroChannel was generating roughly $60 million in revenue beforehand. It did not stop there: in October 2024 Fujifilm MicroChannel bought DXC Technology's Oceania small and medium business practices across Australia, New Zealand and Fiji, picking up six solution lines including Dynamics 365 Business Central and SAP Business One, on undisclosed terms. Fujifilm Business Innovation chief executive Naoki Hama framed it plainly: "Our combined business applications expertise allows us to continue to meet the demands of a growing market."
The company is headquartered in Brisbane with operations across New Zealand, Fiji, Singapore, Sri Lanka and Thailand, and sits in the 51 to 500 employee band. For a retailer on an older Dynamics AX retail deployment, the practical reality is that your support relationship is now with a Japanese-owned consultancy mid-way through a buying spree, and your POS layer is on a Microsoft product that is no longer the current one. Confirm what your install is certified against before you lock in a terminal arrangement, because the upgrade path may force the question anyway.
Microchannel Services also has Microsoft Dynamics NAV and Retail Tools RMS POS PC-EFT.
