SmartLoader is a point-of-sale system for hospitality, built by Monitor WA. a Balcatta company that has been putting SmartRider cards in WA schoolkids' hands since 2004.

Certified on Linkly, running on premise. Linkly reaches more acquirers than any other middleware in the market, which is why most POS start there.

Monitor WA sits in Balcatta, Perth, with somewhere between 11 and 50 staff, and it is an ID card and access control business before it is a POS business. Its claim to fame is SmartRider: the company says it has supplied the cards to every eligible Western Australian student since the scheme started in 2004. Around that it sells cashless school canteen systems (more than ten years of them, on its own account), Pharos print management as the Australian supplier, PC booking, RollCall school bus tracking and Evolis card printers. Named clients include Edith Cowan University, Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital, Joondalup Brothers Rugby Club, Royal Perth Yacht Club and the WA Car Club.

SmartLoader is the kiosk end of that — the unit a student or member tops up a card at. The hospitality tag on this record comes from the middleware category, not from the trade: in practice you are looking at school canteens, university food outlets and club bars in Western Australia, where the card balance matters more than the menu. If you run a cafe in Melbourne this is the wrong list to be shopping from.

No owner, founding year or install count is published anywhere we could find, and there is no acquisition on record. Note too that despite the name there is no evidence linking Monitor WA to Monitor Business Machines in Auckland — neither company mentions the other.
