ETRANS is an NCR product, and the important NCR fact is structural. In July 2023 the company — with more than 130 years of history behind it — announced it was separating into two listed businesses. NCR Voyix took the digital commerce side, led by David Wilkinson, with a remit covering global retail, hospitality and digital banking technology platforms. NCR Atleos took the ATM business under chief executive Tim Oliver. Completion was expected in the fourth quarter of 2023.
The rename was handled by Interbrand with input from 12,000 employees. Chief marketing officer Jennifer Personette said the company "took the responsibility of renaming a company with more than 130 years of history very seriously," and chief executive Michael D. Hayford said Voyix nods to the voyage customers describe in their journeys with NCR. They kept the NCR initials because customers, analysts and employees told them to — a badge of experience worth more than a clean break.
For a hospitality operator the practical reading is this. You are dealing with a very large American listed vendor whose corporate structure changed recently, which in practice means support contracts, account managers and product roadmaps all moved house at once. NCR's hospitality systems are built for high-volume, multi-site operations rather than single venues, so the integration question is specific: which NCR Voyix platform and release your sites run, and what that release is certified against locally. Get that pinned down before you price terminals, because the answer varies by deployment far more than it does with a small cloud POS.
