Simphony First Edition is a point-of-sale system for hospitality, built by Oracle. A named edition of Oracle's Simphony, which is MICROS underneath — and the edition is where the price lives, so get it in writing.
Certified on Linkly, running on premise. Linkly reaches more acquirers than any other middleware in the market, which is why most POS start there.
The Linkly integration runs on premise.
Simphony First Edition is one of the named editions of Oracle Simphony. The first thing to do is get Oracle or the reseller to put in writing what this edition includes and what it does not. Editions in enterprise POS differ on modules, site counts and support levels, and those differences are exactly where the cost sits — an edition name on a quote is not a specification.
The product itself is the former MICROS. Incorporated in 1977 as Picos Manufacturing and renamed Micros Systems in 1978, it ran out of Columbia, Maryland and by 2003 held roughly 35% of the restaurant point of sale market. Oracle announced its acquisition in June 2014 at US$68 a share, about US$5.3 billion, and folded it into Oracle Food and Beverage and Oracle Hospitality. MICROS had grown by acquisition itself, picking up Indatec, Datavantage, JTECH, CommercialWare, Fry, TIG Global, Snow Valley and Torex between 2001 and 2012.
For an Australian venue the payments route is the thing to nail down. Simphony reaches local terminals through a bridge rather than natively — Linkly's Bridge for Oracle, on Oracle Cloud Marketplace, covering Simphony 2.9 and later over the Simphony Payment Interface or the Oracle Payment Interface. Linkly says integrated payment for CBA, Westpac, NAB and ANZ customers on Simphony did not exist before that bridge, so confirm your edition supports it.
Oracle also has Oracle Simphony 19.3 via Linkly Bridge for Oracle, Simphony and SIMPHONY - SPI.
