iOptPOS is a point-of-sale system for retail, built by Pacsoft Australia. hardware shop software, bought by a Texas group in 2019 — nothing to do with optometry, whatever the name suggests.
Certified on Linkly, running on premise. Linkly reaches more acquirers than any other middleware in the market, which is why most POS start there.
The Linkly integration runs on premise.
Worth clearing up first: iOptPOS has nothing to do with optical or optometry. Pacsoft builds inventory, POS and accounting software for hardware retail and the building trade — what the Americans call hardlines. Think hardware stores, timber and building suppliers, paint and trade counters. If you came to this page expecting dispensing software for an optical practice, wrong product entirely.
ECI Software Solutions, out of Fort Worth, Texas, acquired Pacsoft on 1 July 2019 and announced it the following day. Terms were not disclosed. At that point ECI said Pacsoft had been doing business management systems for more than three decades, with over 500 organisations using it worldwide and a significant presence across Australia, New Zealand and the Pacific Islands. Andrew Darbyshire AM was Pacsoft's executive chairman and CTO. The business was folded into ECI's LBM and Hardlines division under John Maiuri, which already served close to 4,000 businesses.
That is the thing to weigh if you are a Pacsoft site: you are buying from a division of a large American software group now, not from an independent Australasian vendor. iOptPOS is the touch-screen till end of it, with the mobile iOpt and iOptView apps reporting off the back office. We could not find Pacsoft's founding year, founder or named customers anywhere — and note that ECI's own listings put the Pacsoft entity in Westbrook, Maine, with the Australasian business operating as an arm of it.
Pacsoft Australia also has Optemizer.
