Via POS — bank compatibility

Via is a point-of-sale system for ticketing, built by Red61. The ticketing platform behind the Edinburgh Fringe — it opened an Adelaide office in 2016 to run the Adelaide Fringe.

Red61 is an Edinburgh company and Via is its ticketing platform. Its signature job is the Edinburgh Festival Fringe: in one festival the platform sold 2.3 million tickets to 50,459 shows across 313 venues. Chief executive Tony Davey described a decade of providing the ticketing platform for some of the largest arts festivals in the world. In February 2016 Red61 picked up the Adelaide Fringe — which draws more than 1.5 million visitors a year — and set up an Adelaide office to service it, after a memorandum of understanding between the Adelaide Festival and the Edinburgh International Festival.

So this is festival and multi-venue ticketing, not a retail till. Via is built for high-volume sales and for networks of organisations selling through a shared box office — the Fringe model, where hundreds of independent producers run off one system. It is priced accordingly: Capterra lists a basic plan from £4,000 per user per year, with a free trial and no free version.

The reviews come from the same world. Southwark Council used it for a 23,000-capacity fireworks night in London; the Toronto Fringe ran ticketless entry with iPads and phone scanners on venue doors; and an Edinburgh Fringe box office reviewer summed it up as "The system is ridiculously easy to use". If you are a festival or a venue network, the payment question is about pop-up box offices and door scanning, not a fixed counter.
