Surefire Android POS is a point-of-sale system for retail, built by Surefire Software. the Android arm of a Melbourne enterprise POS house whose customers include Officeworks and Spotlight.
Certified on Linkly, running in the cloud. Linkly reaches more acquirers than any other middleware in the market, which is why most POS start there.
The Linkly integration runs in the cloud.
The Android build is the mobile end of Surefire Systems' enterprise range, and the clearest published example of it in the wild is Officeworks, which Microsoft Australia wrote up in 2016 for its Surefire mobile POS deployment. The rest of the range runs POS, back office, head office, business intelligence and self-checkout — the stack a retail chain buys centrally rather than a shop owner picking off a shelf.
Surefire started in Melbourne in 1999 with grocery retailers and now says it has supported Australian retail chains for over 20 years, across Australia and New Zealand. The named customers are the reason to take it seriously: Officeworks, Optus, Foodworks, Liquorland, Ritchies Supa IGA, Spotlight, Anaconda, The Reject Shop, and councils running self-service bill payment. Hand-held tills in a chain that size are usually about queue-busting and floor sales rather than replacing the counter.
Unresolved: who owns it. One database lists the company as a subsidiary with no parent named, and no acquisition appears anywhere. The site also links to IT Visions in a shared multi-store retail statement without explaining how the two relate. Don't confuse this with the UK trades CRM also called Surefire Software — different company entirely.
Surefire Software also has Surefire POS.
