Surefire Systems POS — bank compatibility

Point-of-sale system by Surefire Systems · All point-of-sale systems

Surefire Systems is a point-of-sale system for retail. Melbourne, 1997, Officeworks on the customer list — and now owned by Constellation Software, same as Sympac.

Certified on Linkly, running on premise. Linkly reaches more acquirers than any other middleware in the market, which is why most POS start there.

The Linkly integration runs on premise.

Surefire was founded in 1997 and works out of Level 5, 606 St Kilda Road, Melbourne. It started by building Microsoft-based POS for grocery retailers and widened out into electronics, outdoors, homewares, pharmacy, discount and department stores, liquor, franchises and hardware. High-volume lanes are the sweet spot, and it supports Australia and New Zealand with 24/7 priority support.

Two ownership facts. Surefire is part of the IT Visions group, and it is now part of Constellation Software through Vela APX — the same Canadian acquirer that owns Sympac. Two of the better-known Australian retail POS names now sit under one Toronto-listed parent, which is not something either of them leads with.

Known deployments are unusually concrete for a vendor this size. Officeworks runs Surefire's transaction platform alongside its existing SAP system for mobile checkout; Optus uses the technology inside its Retail Assist solution on Azure; and local government bodies use Surefire self-service devices so residents can scan and pay bills. The product range runs POS, mobile POS, self-checkout, back office, head office and business intelligence.

Surefire Systems also has Surefire.
