Sybiz is a point-of-sale system for retail, built by Sybiz Software. Adelaide, 1975 — it started selling hardware, got absorbed into Sage, then bought itself back.
Certified on Linkly, running on premise. Linkly reaches more acquirers than any other middleware in the market, which is why most POS start there.
The Linkly integration runs on premise.
Sybiz Software was founded in South Australia in 1975 by Malcolm and Pegy Boyd, and began life as a local IT hardware provider before it became a software company. It is still headquartered in Adelaide, with offices in Auckland and Dublin, and sells through a channel partner network into Australia, New Zealand, Sri Lanka, Singapore, Fiji, Ireland and the UK.
The ownership history is the interesting part. Softline acquired Sybiz in 1998; Sage bought Softline in 2003, which put an Adelaide accounting package inside a London-listed global group. Then in 2005 a management buy-out led by Grant Argy and Ben O'Brien took it back into Australian hands, where it has stayed. Sybiz went on to buy its own distributors — Revolution Systems in New Zealand in 2008, and its Ireland-based distributor in 2015, rebranded Sybiz Europe.
The products are Sybiz Vision for ERP and financials and Sybiz Visipay for payroll and HR, aimed at medium-to-large businesses, with SybizCloud and mobile apps around them. Because it sells through partners, the person wiring your terminal to it is usually a Sybiz partner rather than Sybiz — so ask who owns that integration when something breaks.
Sybiz Software also has Sybiz Vision.
