LS Retail POS — bank compatibility

LS Retail is a point-of-sale system for fashion and apparel, general retail and retail, built by Tectura (Australia). Icelandic software, Microsoft underneath, and owned by Aptos since 2021.

Certified on Linkly and on Tyro. Worth knowing the difference: Tyro is its own acquirer, so that route means banking with Tyro. The Linkly route does not.

It handles cash out. Tyro rates it a Plus partner.

The Linkly integration runs on premise.

LS Retail is not an Australian product and the vendor on this record is the implementation partner, not the author. The software comes from LS Retail, based in Reykjavik, Iceland, built on Microsoft technology and sold through channel partners into more than 80,000 customer sites across over 140 countries. It covers retail, hospitality, food service and forecourt — fashion, electronics, furniture, duty free, restaurants, hotels, coffee shops and service stations.

Aptos completed its acquisition of LS Retail on 16 February 2021 and runs it as a standalone business unit. Aptos itself is backed by Goldman Sachs' merchant banking division. So the ownership chain on an Australian LS Retail site is: your local Microsoft Dynamics partner, then Aptos, then a private equity backer — and none of those three is the company whose logo is on the till.

The practical consequence is about who you chase when something breaks. With a channel-delivered Dynamics product, the quality of your implementation partner matters more than the quality of the software, because they are the ones who build your configuration and the ones you ring. Get the partner's local references, not the vendor's global ones.
