Retailer Roam is a point-of-sale system for general retail and retail, built by Tower Systems International (Aust). The roaming till from a Hawthorn software house that only sells to independent specialty shops — now Constellation-owned.

Certified on Linkly and on Tyro. Worth knowing the difference: Tyro is its own acquirer, so that route means banking with Tyro. The Linkly route does not.

Certified for split bills. Tyro rates it a Premium partner — their top tier.

The Linkly integration runs in the cloud.

Tower Systems was founded by Mark Fletcher, a programmer who had worked in retail, and runs out of Lynch Street, Hawthorn. The whole business is built for local independent specialty retailers rather than chains: newsagents, bookshops, jewellers, garden centres, bike shops, pet shops, toy shops, fishing and produce stores, fashion, music and computer shops.

The ownership changed in November 2024, when Vela APX — a division of Constellation Software (TSX: CSU) — acquired the business. Constellation's model is to buy niche vertical software and keep it, so the brand tends to survive the deal; the company behind it does not stay the same.

Roam is the mobile version: taking a sale away from the counter, which is what a garden centre or a bike shop actually needs on a Saturday.

Tower Systems International (Aust) also has Retailer, Retailer - Kiosk, Retailer (On-premises only) and Tower Systems International v2.7.3.2 (Cloud).
