Vista Point of Sale is a point-of-sale system for entertainment and leisure, built by Vista Entertainment Solutions. The till behind the big circuits, run out of Auckland — Vista held roughly 38% of the global large-cinema market as at 2015.

Vista Entertainment Solutions — Vista Cinema, to the trade — started in New Zealand in 1996 as a joint venture between Village Force Cinemas, now Event Cinemas, and Madison Systems, the business that became Fujitsu. Management had bought its way to full control by 2010, and in August 2014 the parent, Vista Group International, floated on the NZX and dual-listed on the ASX as VGL. The IPO raised $92.6 million and the company came to market at a $191.6 million valuation.

This is the enterprise product, and Vista is blunt about the split: Vista Cinema is for circuits with more than 20 screens, Veezi is for everyone smaller. It covers box office, candy bar and back of house, plus apps, ticketing, analytics and loyalty on top. More than 5,500 cinemas in over 80 countries run it, group software is installed in cinemas in 116 countries, and as at 2015 Vista held about 38% of the global large-cinema market.

Practical upshot: if you are a single-site independent looking at this row, you are looking at the wrong product from the right company. Switching Vista is a circuit-level project involving head office, not a counter decision — and the terminal integration gets scoped as part of that, not after it.
