Xplor Clubware POS — bank compatibility

Xplor Clubware is a point-of-sale system for hair and beauty and retail, built by Xplor Technologies. A New Zealand gym system from 2001 that ended up inside a global payments roll-up owned by private equity firm Advent International.

Clubware has been in health and fitness since 2001 and became one of the most widely used gym management systems in Australia and New Zealand — memberships, bookings, access, billing and the front counter. The important part is who owns it now. Clubware came up through Transaction Services Group, founded in Auckland in 1994 and built specifically around subscription billing for health and fitness clubs. If you have ever had a gym direct debit in this part of the world, TSG was probably somewhere in the chain.

In February 2021 TSG merged with US payments business Xplor Pay — both of them portfolio companies of private equity firm Advent International — and relaunched as Xplor Technologies. At the time the combined group claimed more than 82,000 business customers, over US$27 billion in payments processed and more than 2,000 staff. Floris de Kort, TSG's chief executive, took the group CEO role. Xplor has kept buying: it picked up Membr, and in 2025 merged with Clubessential Holdings.

So the product is a long-running local gym system, but the company behind it is a payments business first. That matters when you are comparing EFTPOS, because a vendor that owns a payments arm has its own reasons to steer you toward it. Worth knowing before you ask about integration options.
