Xplor Recreation is a point-of-sale system for hair and beauty and retail, built by Xplor Technologies. Canadian-built software for councils and leisure centres that has been renamed twice in four years — it is now called nextRec.
Certified on Linkly, running in the cloud. Linkly reaches more acquirers than any other middleware in the market, which is why most POS start there.
The Linkly integration runs in the cloud.
This one started life as PerfectMind, founded in 1998, doing membership and facility management for parks, recreation departments, swim schools, martial arts studios and university rec centres. Xplor Technologies acquired the software in 2020 and rebranded it Xplor Recreation in 2022. In 2026 it was renamed again, to nextRec. Same team and same platform, by the vendor's own account — but if you are searching for support or pricing under the old name you will keep landing on redirects.
Xplor Technologies itself was formed in February 2021 when Auckland-founded Transaction Services Group merged with US payments business Xplor Pay, both owned by private equity firm Advent International. The group reported over 82,000 business customers and more than US$27 billion in payments processed at the time. It then merged with Clubessential Holdings in 2025, which brought RecDesk and other recreation brands under the same roof.
The product covers member management, facility and court booking, kiosks, a mobile app, marketing automation and what it calls citywide POS — one till setup across a council's pools, stadiums and community centres. That last bit is why EFTPOS integration matters here: a council wants the same payment behaviour at every counter it runs, not a different arrangement at each site.
Xplor Technologies also has Xplor Clubware.
