Ziipos Classic Edition POS — bank compatibility

Ziipos Classic Edition is a point-of-sale system for hospitality and retail, built by ZIITECH. The company behind it started life in 2003 as Digifield and only became Zii around 2019 — same business, third name.

Certified on mx51, which is the engine behind several banks’ own terminal offerings rather than something a merchant buys by name.

The integration covers tipping, phone and mail order and surcharging.

The mx51 integration uses Spice and was last certified in October 2021, on Windows.

ZiiPOS Classic Edition is the counter till in Zii's hospitality and retail range. The company is ZIITECH Pty Ltd, out of Deepdene in Melbourne's east, and it has more history than the brand suggests: it was founded in 2003 as Digifield, says it onboarded its 10,000th customer in June 2013, and only arrived in the market as Zii around 2019. If you have been quoted by Digifield at some point in the past two decades, this is the same company.

The number that matters now came from buying a competitor. In February 2022 Zii acquired Suntech Enterprises Australia, a Melbourne POS platform with a strong position in food and beverage retail — catering, bakeries, supermarkets, convenience stores and multi-site chains. That took Zii to close to 12,000 venues nationally. If you were a Suntech customer, you are a Zii customer, whether or not anyone made that clear at the time.

The range around the till is broad: ZiiPOS for food and beverage and for retail, self-order kiosks, QR and online ordering, table ordering, kitchen display, eBooking, inventory, loyalty and delivery integrations. One thing to press on — "Classic Edition" implies there are newer editions. Ask what it is classic relative to, and which edition they are still putting development into, before you commit to this one.
