ADEN Works is a point-of-sale system for general retail and retail. Born in 1994 out of auto recycling — the founder spent six years selling someone else's wrecking-yard software, then wrote his own.

Tyro only. Tyro is its own middleware and its own acquirer, so this one comes with the bank attached — moving bank means a new integration.

Certified to do cash out. Tyro rates it a Plus partner.

ADEN Works started in 1994. Ian Thorp had spent six years distributing an auto recycling software product, decided he could do it better, and about nine months of programming later released ADEN in DOS. It moved from DOS to Windows and picked up internet capability in 2001. Abraham Daoud is listed as co-founder, programmer and partner; Terry Oakes Ash OAM chairs the company and Deb Blackah CPA is chief financial officer. It sells into Australia and New Zealand.

The DNA is still auto recycling, and that is the point. It integrates accounting with stock control and is built to chew through large data volumes, which is what a dismantler with tens of thousands of individually graded parts actually needs — a generic retail package treats every line as a SKU with a quantity, and a wrecking yard does not work that way. The company has since extended it into nursery, building supplies including sand and soil, and general retail, with remote access across the lot.

If you are a dismantler or a yard, this is one of a handful of systems written for you. If you are a boutique, it is the wrong shape. The integration list covers cashout, purchases, refunds, receipts and reports, and integrated cashout is worth noting — it is not standard on every POS and it suits a counter where customers pay cash as often as card.

A POS reaches a bank through middleware. Each card below is one certified route; the banks it reaches are on the middleware page.
