Amicus POS — bank compatibility

Amicus is a point-of-sale system for cafes and hospitality. An on-premise Windows system from innitGlobal that keeps trading when the internet drops — the opposite bet to every cloud POS in this list.
Tyro only. Tyro is its own middleware and its own acquirer, so this one comes with the bank attached — moving bank means a new integration.
The integration covers cash out. Tyro rates it a Power Up partner.
Amicus comes from innitGlobal and is a Windows product in the older sense of the term. Data sits on a Microsoft SQL server in the venue rather than in somebody else's cloud, so the till keeps trading and the records stay readable when the connection goes down. It ships with an automatic backup system to cover hardware failure, which is the necessary other half of running your own database on site.
That is a real trade-off rather than a shortcoming, and it is worth thinking about honestly. A cafe in a spot with poor internet is genuinely better served by a local database than a browser tab, and a fair few cloud point of sale systems degrade badly or stop taking orders entirely when they lose connectivity. The cost is that the server, the upgrades and the backups become your problem rather than the vendor's, and there is no remote access to your numbers from home unless you build it.
Tyro integration covers cashout, purchases, receipts, refunds and reports. Tyro lists it against hospitality with a cafe focus.
