Audit4 — practice software and bank compatibility

Audit4 is practice-management software for health and medical specialists. A specialist medical record so well structured that a university research centre built a national disease registry on top of it.

Tyro only. Tyro is its own middleware and its own acquirer, so this one comes with the bank attached — moving bank means a new integration.

Certified to do Medicare bulk billing, Medicare Easyclaim and multi-merchant. Tyro rates it a Power Up partner.

Audit4 is made by Software for Specialists (S4S Pty Ltd), an Australian company writing clinical applications for medical and surgical specialists across Australia and New Zealand. It is a full electronic medical record with appointments and billing integrated, used both in private rooms and in hospital departments, and it has moved its billing to Medicare Web Services.

The name is not decoration. Audit4's data is structured for clinical audit, and that has had a consequence most practice software never gets near: the NHMRC Chronic Kidney Disease Centre of Research Excellence at the University of Queensland built a desktop extraction tool for Audit4 so nephrologists could pull longitudinal CKD data straight out of their own databases for national surveillance — tested on roughly 3,905 patients at a single North Sydney practice, with at least forty nephrologists around Australia on the system. The tool was released free to Audit4 users, where extraction had previously been a paid job for the vendor. If you want evidence that a clinical system records things properly rather than just storing free text, that is about as good as it gets.

As with the rest of this category, never call it a POS. It is clinical software that claims at the terminal, and the thing that decides whether it suits a rooms is the billing and claiming workflow at the end of a consult, not the card rate. Tyro certifies it at Power Up tier, tagged for medical specialists.

Health claiming at the terminal

Certified through Tyro for Medicare Easyclaim — bulk bill, Medicare Easyclaim — part paid, Medicare Easyclaim — patient paid. Tyro is its own acquirer, so claiming through the terminal means banking with Tyro.

Connected through

A POS reaches a bank through middleware. Each card below is one certified route; the banks it reaches are on the middleware page.
