Bevilles is a point-of-sale system for retail. A 90-year-old Melbourne jewellery family that went into administration, bought itself back for nothing, then sold to Michael Hill for $45.1 million.
Certified on Linkly, running on premise. Linkly reaches more acquirers than any other middleware in the market, which is why most POS start there.

Leo and Rae Beville opened on Bourke Street in Melbourne's CBD in 1934, and three generations of the family ran it for close to ninety years. The first store outside Victoria opened at Parramatta in 2003. By early April 2014 it was a $70 million business with 477 staff and 27 stores — and it went into voluntary administration. The family got it back the following month through a creditor-approved Deed of Company Arrangement with no money changing hands, renamed it Bevilles Corp under CEO Michelle Beville, and kept 16 stores across three states, saving around 250 jobs.
The turnaround was a deliberate shrink rather than a push for growth. Store footprints came down from about 180 square metres to about 80, the range narrowed to diamonds and gold, and average customer spend went from roughly $50 to roughly $250. Indian manufacturer Tara Jewels had formed an alliance in 2013 and announced in October 2017 that it would take 49% with the family keeping 51%; whether that ever completed is not publicly recorded. Then in April 2023 Michael Hill International agreed to buy the business outright for $45.1 million — 26 stores across Victoria, NSW and South Australia — taking control on 1 June 2023. Michael Hill has talked about more than 80 Bevilles stores by 2028, including New Zealand and Canada, funded off a three-year $90 million ANZ and HSBC facility. Michelle Stanton, nee Beville, moved to brand ambassador.
So this record's 'vendor' is a jewellery chain, and one that has changed hands twice since the directory was built. There is no Bevilles POS product — the entry is the retailer's own till estate, which now belongs to Michael Hill. One caution if you go reading about it: a widely shared Inside Retail headline puts the sale price at $65 million while its own body text and the rest of the trade press both say $45.1 million.
