BizFlex Retail Software POS — bank compatibility

BizFlex Retail Software is a point-of-sale system for retail and wholesale, built by BizFlex Retail Systems. a Melbourne retail system from a company first registered back in 1984.

Certified on mx51, which is the engine behind several banks’ own terminal offerings rather than something a merchant buys by name.

The integration covers tipping, phone and mail order and surcharging.

The mx51 integration uses SPI .NET or Spice and was last certified in August 2023, on Windows. mx51 holds 2 separate certified builds for it, so what works depends which one you are on.

BizFlex is the retail management system of Dataccount Computer, which its own About page describes as a privately owned company first registered in 1984 that has focused on designing and marketing retail management software for small and medium business since 2001. Development and support sit with an IT team in its Melbourne office, and Tyro lists the vendor as Dataccount Computer Pty Ltd.

The product is the all-in-one kind: touch-screen point of sale, inventory, customers, suppliers, staff and accounting modules, website order integration, automatic backup and database replication for multi-store setups. It is sold on a monthly subscription that includes support and periodic updates, and it connects to Tyro, Afterpay and Presto. The site's line is "designed by retailers, developed by information technology experts".

Nationally, marketing, installation and the maintenance of hardware and networks run through authorised third-party resellers and approved technical contractors rather than Dataccount directly — so the people who sell and service it may not be the people who build it. The only customer named on the site is Toyworld in Melbourne, and the site elsewhere says BizFlex has been "operating retail business for over 12 years", which does not sit neatly against the 2001 date.
