Bp Premier — practice software and bank compatibility
Practice management software · All point-of-sale systems

Bp Premier is practice-management software for health and primary health. The GP software a doctor wrote — started in Bundaberg in 2004 and now in more than 6,000 clinics, still privately held.
Tyro only. Tyro is its own middleware and its own acquirer, so this one comes with the bank attached — moving bank means a new integration.
Certified to do Medicare bulk billing, Medicare Easyclaim and multi-merchant. Tyro rates it a Premium partner — their top tier.
Bp Premier is clinical and practice management software for general practice, not a point-of-sale system — the claiming happens at the front desk as part of the consultation, which is a different problem to retail payments. Best Practice Software was founded in 2004 in Bundaberg, Queensland by Dr Frank Pyefinch, a GP, and his wife Lorraine Pyefinch, a registered nurse. Pyefinch taught himself to program in the early 1990s while working as a busy GP, built database tools to cut prescription errors, sold that first venture in 2002 and started again two years later.
It grew without being bought, which in Australian health software is the exception. The company expanded its product family through acquisitions in 2013, moved into a purpose-built Bundaberg head office around 2014-15, opened a New Zealand operations centre in Hamilton in 2016, added a Brisbane business centre in 2021 and refreshed the brand in 2025. It now supports over 6,000 healthcare clinics across Australia and New Zealand and still describes itself as a private company driven by engagement with its users.
For a practice choosing a terminal, the thing to get right is the claiming path. Bp Premier's value at the desk is Medicare and private health claiming happening in the same flow as the payment, so the terminal has to be one the software actually drives — not just one that sits beside it.
Health claiming at the terminal
Certified through Tyro for Medicare Easyclaim — bulk bill, Medicare Easyclaim — part paid. Tyro is its own acquirer, so claiming through the terminal means banking with Tyro.
