Cin7 POS is a point-of-sale system for books, butchers and grocers, fashion and apparel and general retail, and 5 more, built by Cin7. An Auckland inventory platform that a US private equity firm bought for $133 million and then went shopping with.

Certified on Linkly and on Tyro. Worth knowing the difference: Tyro is its own acquirer, so that route means banking with Tyro. The Linkly route does not.

Tyro rates it a Power Up partner.

The Linkly integration runs on premise.

Danny Ing founded Cin7 in Auckland. In October 2019 Rubicon Technology Partners, a US private equity firm, acquired 100 per cent of the company for $133.3 million — a figure that only became public through Overseas Investment Office records.

What followed was a buying spree. Cin7 acquired DEAR Systems out of Sydney and Orderhive in the US, both for cash, taking it past 6,000 product sellers globally and consolidating a market that had been badly fragmented. DEAR was later rebranded Cin7 Core.

Understand what you are buying: Cin7 is an inventory and order management platform with a POS attached, not a till company that added stock control. If your pain is stock across channels and warehouses it is a strong fit. If you just need a fast counter, it is more system than you need.
