Clear Retail POS — bank compatibility

Clear Retail is a point-of-sale system for retail, built by Clear Software. A Robina accounting-software house whose real speciality is tile shops — the retail POS is one module hanging off a bigger ledger.

Clear Software works out of Robina Town Centre Drive on the Gold Coast and says it has been helping businesses grow for over 18 years. The range is accounting-first: ClearAccounts at the centre, ClearPay for STP-compliant payroll, ClearLink adding a portal, webstore, despatch, API and a QuickPOS module, and then the point of sale itself. The modules listed run to sales, inventory control, accounting, warehouse management, purchasing, payroll, importing and business intelligence — which is an ERP shape, not a till shape.

The POS is described as integrating automatically with the rest of the ClearAccounts range, with barcode scanning, gift voucher and lay-by management, multi-user support for larger stores, touch screen or keyboard operation, and the usual EFTPOS, docket printer and cash drawer connections.

One thing to go in clear-eyed about: the name. ClearRetail is how the product appears in payment partner directories, but Clear Software's own website does not use that name anywhere. What its site actually pushes is ClearTile, built exclusively for the tiling industry and sold to tile retailers, wholesalers, importers and distributors, with every published testimonial coming from a tile or stone business. If you are a general retailer, you would be buying from a vendor whose deepest expertise is somewhere else entirely.
