ConnectWise POS — bank compatibility

ConnectWise is a point-of-sale system for general retail and retail. Not a till at all — it's the software IT companies run their own businesses on, and a Perth MSP is the one who wired it to EFTPOS.

Tyro only. Tyro is its own middleware and its own acquirer, so this one comes with the bank attached — moving bank means a new integration.

ConnectWise is a business management platform for managed service providers and technology solution providers: professional services automation, remote monitoring and management, and security tooling. It is not retail POS software. Based in Tampa, Florida, founded by Arnie Bellini and his brother off the back of running their own MSP, and sitting at roughly 30,000 partner customers. Thoma Bravo bought it in February 2019, picked up Continuum shortly after, and has about tripled the business since.

One caution specific to this record. Tyro's partner listing puts a company called Res-Q IT Services against the integration — a real Perth technology provider, founded 2009 in Claremont WA, doing managed IT, cybersecurity, Microsoft 365, VoIP and backup. But the company label on these listings is not reliable, so treat it as a lead rather than a fact. Who built this integration, and who answers the phone when it breaks, are both questions for whoever is quoting you.

Practical upshot: if you run an IT services business taking card payments over the counter or at a client site, this is the integration that lands the transaction against the ConnectWise ticket instead of being reconciled by hand later. If you run a shop or a café, this one is not for you — ConnectWise is a back-office platform for IT firms, not a till, whatever category it gets filed under.
