Covetrus VisionVPM — practice software and bank compatibility

Practice management software · All point-of-sale systems

Covetrus VisionVPM is practice-management software for veterinary. One of two vet systems the same owner sells into this market — and that owner is now a US private equity pair, not an animal health company.

Tyro only. Tyro is its own middleware and its own acquirer, so this one comes with the bank attached — moving bank means a new integration.

Tyro rates it a Premium partner — their top tier.

VisionVPM is veterinary practice management software sold by Covetrus across Asia Pacific, including a dedicated farm and large animal configuration. It sits beside RxWorks in the same portfolio rather than replacing it, which is why clinics are sometimes quoted both by the same salesperson.

The ownership chain behind it is the part worth knowing. Covetrus was created in 2019 when Henry Schein spun off its animal health business and merged it with Vets First Choice of Portland, Maine. In October 2022, Clayton, Dubilier & Rice and TPG completed a $4 billion acquisition and took Covetrus private. The group reported US$4.339 billion in revenue in 2021 and its software division serves approximately 100,000 veterinary practices worldwide across North America, Europe and Asia Pacific.

Two things follow for an Australian or New Zealand clinic. First, decisions about this product are made inside a private-equity-owned global group, so ask directly about the roadmap and the support commitment for the APAC products. Second, do not assume an integration certified for RxWorks applies to VisionVPM — same owner, different software. Get the certification named against your product and version.
