Dental4Web is practice-management software for dental and health. The cloud version of Dental4Windows, launched back in 2016 — same feature set, different plumbing, and that changes the terminal question.
Tyro only. Tyro is its own middleware and its own acquirer, so this one comes with the bank attached — moving bank means a new integration.
The integration covers HealthPoint private health claiming, Medicare bulk billing, Medicare Easyclaim and multi-merchant. Tyro rates it a Premium partner — their top tier.
Dental4Web is Centaur Software's browser-delivered version of its Dental4Windows platform, introduced as D4W Cloud in March 2016. The positioning at launch was that it did not sacrifice the features of classic Dental4Windows — same software, delivered online, with data held on secure servers in Australian data centres, automatic backups, automatic updates and a fixed monthly subscription instead of a server purchase. Centaur still sells the traditional on-premise model alongside it for practices that want their data in the building.
Centaur itself has been in dental software for over thirty years, is based in Sydney and claims more than 4,500 practices across Australia, New Zealand and beyond. Unusually for this market it remains independent — Henry Schein One owns Exact, Dentally and Oasis in Australia, but not Centaur.
The payments consequence of going browser-based is the one practices miss. A cloud front end cannot drive a cabled terminal the way a Windows application can, so the integration route for claiming and card payment is different to on-premise Dental4Windows. Ask which terminals are certified specifically for the web product, not for the platform in general.
Health claiming at the terminal
Certified through Tyro for Medicare Easyclaim — bulk bill, Medicare Easyclaim — part paid, Medicare Easyclaim — patient paid, Rebate estimate, Tyro HealthPoint. Tyro is its own acquirer, so claiming through the terminal means banking with Tyro.
