Dental4Windows is practice-management software for dental and health. The on-premise incumbent in Australian dentistry — over 30 years old, 4,500-odd practices, and still independently run out of Sydney.
Tyro only. Tyro is its own middleware and its own acquirer, so this one comes with the bank attached — moving bank means a new integration.
Certified to do HealthPoint private health claiming, Medicare bulk billing, Medicare Easyclaim and multi-merchant. Tyro rates it a Premium partner — their top tier.
Dental4Windows is built by Centaur Software Development Co Pty Ltd, which has been in dental practice management for over thirty years and has been based in Sydney — Surry Hills as of its own published material. It claims more than 4,500 practices across Australia, New Zealand and beyond, and positions itself specifically as Australia's leading on-premise practice management platform. That word on-premise is deliberate: the data stays in the practice, which is the pitch against the cloud-native competitors.
Notably, it has stayed independent while the rest of the market consolidated. Henry Schein One owns Exact, Dentally and Oasis in this country; Centaur is not among them, and its own material names three directors — Dr Frank Papadopoulos, Michael Sokol and Yuri Tsimbler — rather than a parent company. In a sector where nearly every other name has been rolled up, that is worth knowing.
The system covers appointments, clinical records, financials, digital imaging, automated communications and reporting, with an eServices layer on top — eAppointments, eForms, Patient Discovery — and integrations out to Xero, HotDoc and Tyro Health. It also carries National Dental Plan buy-now-pay-later. For the terminal decision, the Tyro Health integration is the documented claiming path, so confirm what else is certified before assuming your bank is covered.
Health claiming at the terminal
Certified through Tyro for Medicare Easyclaim — bulk bill, Medicare Easyclaim — part paid, Medicare Easyclaim — patient paid, Rebate estimate, Tyro HealthPoint. Tyro is its own acquirer, so claiming through the terminal means banking with Tyro.
