DIGI SM Scales — scale and bank compatibility

Weigh-and-label scale by Wedderburn · All point-of-sale systems

DIGI SM Scales is a weigh-and-label scale for retail, built by Wedderburn. The company behind it is W W Wedderburn Pty Ltd. A counter scale, not a till — supplied by a family company that has been weighing things in Australia since 1896.

Certified on Linkly, running in the cloud. Linkly reaches more acquirers than any other middleware in the market, which is why most POS start there.

The Linkly integration runs in the cloud.

A DIGI SM-series retail scale is the machine on the butcher's or deli counter that weighs the product, prices it and prints the label. With the payment integration the amount goes from the scale to the terminal directly, so the person serving doesn't rekey it between the two. If you're comparing this against a point-of-sale system you're comparing two different things.

Wedderburn is the Australian name attached. The family's story starts in London with Jabez William Wedderburn working in the family scale-making firm; the business has been weighing since 1896 and made its first scale more than a century ago. It is still family-owned, with 19 branches in Australia and 10 in New Zealand. Butchers are the core trade, with Coles and Woolworths among the customers it displays, alongside industrial, fitness, medical and pharmaceutical and veterinary weighing.

That branch count is not trivia. A retail scale is a trade-measurement instrument that has to be serviced and verified, and the service network is a large part of what you're buying.
