EatCool POS — bank compatibility

EatCool is a point-of-sale system for hospitality. Trading name of Me and Friend Pty Ltd, a Brisbane southside outfit that gives the software away and makes its money on the card side.

Certified on mx51, which is the engine behind several banks’ own terminal offerings rather than something a merchant buys by name.

The mx51 integration uses SPI iOS and was last certified in January 2023, on iPadOS.

The company behind it is Me and Friend Pty Ltd, ABN active since November 2007, main business location in Brisbane's south. The Eatcool business name only went on in November 2023, so the entity is a lot older than the brand. A Gust company profile lists the business as founded June 2014 with 12 employees and around $500k trailing-twelve-month revenue.

The pitch is blunt and it is on their own home page: "It is the first hospitality system in Australia with NO Upfront Fee, NO Monthly Fee, NO Contract." Every function in the pricing table, kiosk included, is listed at free. That tells you where the margin is. The same ABN registered Paycool in December 2023, alongside Agriculture X and LabourPool, all inside about ten weeks. Software is the hook, payments are the business.

The clients named on its own site are almost all Asian-cuisine venues: Super Six Seafood at Coopers Plains, HappyCrab and Toobirds in Brisbane City, Shinbashi Yakiniku at Underwood, Chim Thai Cove at Hope Island, and Yasaka Ramen in Sydney. If you are running a ramen shop or a yakiniku place, these are your people. If you are a 300-seat pub, they are not. One oddity worth a smile: the site's own terms of trading define working days by reference to public holidays in England, so the legal paperwork is a UK template.
