EposNow is a point-of-sale system for accommodation, bars and pubs, books and butchers and grocers, and 10 more, built by Epos Now. A Norwich export that got very big very fast — around 90,000 merchant locations in eleven countries.
Certified on mx51 and on Tyro. Worth knowing the difference: Tyro is its own acquirer, so that route means banking with Tyro. The mx51 route does not.
Certified to do split bills, tipping and phone and mail order. Tyro rates it a Premium partner — their top tier.
The mx51 integration uses SPI JavaScript and was last certified in September 2020, on Windows.
Epos Now was started in Norwich, England in 2011 by Jacyn Heavens, who still runs it. It is one of the larger POS businesses to reach Australia, reporting roughly 90,000 merchant locations across eleven countries, including the UK, Ireland, the US, Mexico, Spain, Canada, New Zealand and Australia, and revenue above $150 million by 2025.
Its Australian presence is not organic — it bought Epos Systems Pty here in February 2020. It later picked up Cardiff fintech Yoello in December 2024, and in late 2023 was reported to be weighing a minority stake sale at around a US$1.5 billion valuation.
What it is known for is volume and a low barrier to entry rather than depth in any one trade. That is a real trade-off: you get a cheap, fast start and a support model built for scale, not a vendor who knows your industry.
