Exceed is H&L Australia's front-of-house point of sale, paired with Sysnet at the back of house. H&L has been at this for over thirty years and is in more than 2,400 Australian venues, with regional account managers across every state and territory and Andrew Paynter as managing director. The full stack covers POS, back of house, order display monitors, a cloud dashboard, workforce management and hardware, plus connections to hundreds of third-party systems.

The Tyro feature list is the giveaway for where this one sits: BarTab and Pay@Table alongside the usual integrated purchases and receipts. Those are pub, club and table-service restaurant features, not cafe ones, and Tyro tags it accommodation, bars and pubs, cafes and restaurants. The venue types H&L lists itself run to hotels, pubs, bars, nightclubs, stadiums, clubs and liquor retail — which is the market it has owned for decades.

Ownership: Valsoft Corporation of Montreal acquired H&L in October 2019, its eighth travel and leisure investment and fourth in hospitality, taking Valsoft's hospitality portfolio past 6,000 holdings. Valsoft buys vertical market software to hold rather than flip, with no predetermined exit timeline, and says it partners with existing management rather than replacing it — which is consistent with H&L still running under its own name and its own MD.
