ExpressLane POS is a point-of-sale system for general retail and retail, built by Elegant Computer Solutions. Old-school: buy the licence outright, get it through a dealer, and the price list on the website is from 2011.

Certified on Linkly and on Tyro. Worth knowing the difference: Tyro is its own acquirer, so that route means banking with Tyro. The Linkly route does not.

It handles split bills and cash out.

The Linkly integration runs on premise.

ExpressLane POS is a point of sale system for small to medium Australian retailers, sold only in Australia and New Zealand and only through dealers. It runs standalone with stock control, debtors, creditors and a cashbook, or integrates with common accounting packages. The features are the practical sort: configurable sales entry screens, multiple tender types including layby and gift vouchers, stock search by barcode or description, points or voucher loyalty, barcode and special pricing, user security levels with supervisor authorisation, and customer and product tags that prompt staff to ask a question at the counter.

The pricing model is the story. This is a perpetual licence, not a subscription — $1,650 for a single user, $825 per additional user, with barcode label printing, a scales interface and integrated EFTPOS at $275 each. The catch: that price list is dated 1 October 2011 and has not been touched since. Whether those are still the numbers is a question for the dealer, but a pricing page left alone for fifteen years tells you something about the pace of the business.

Where it is installed is useful to know: variety stores, small supermarkets, clubs and landscaping suppliers. The Tyro integration covers integrated cashout, manual settlement, purchases, receipts, refunds and split payments. Tyro names the company as Elegant Computer Solutions, though the product's own site never does — another sign of how lightly this one is marketed.
