Fleet Technologies (Ingogo) is a point-of-sale system for automotive and transport. The in-car payment side of ingogo, the Sydney taxi app that raised more than $16m, lined up an ASX float, and pulled out.
Certified on mx51, which is the engine behind several banks’ own terminal offerings rather than something a merchant buys by name.
It handles surcharging.
The mx51 integration uses SPI Java, SPI JavaScript or SPI iOS and was last certified in April 2021, on Android, Linux and iOS. mx51 holds 3 separate certified builds for it, so what works depends which one you are on.
ingogo launched in August 2011 in Sydney, booking taxis through its own GPS-enabled system in the northern suburbs first. It was the first in Australia to offer fixed fares that included tolls, with no surge pricing, and it went after advance bookings and corporate accounts — Qantas among them — rather than competing for street hails. Entrepreneur Hamish Petrie, who founded Moshtix, was behind getting it off the ground.
The money is the memorable part. ingogo raised more than $16m from Australian investors, including $12m in 2015 at a $100m valuation, and over $4m through VentureCrowd — a record for that crowdfunding platform at the time. MYOB co-founder Brad Shofer was among the backers. In December 2016 the company postponed a planned ASX listing and was reported to be weighing preference shares or a rights issue instead.
It did not disappear. Passengers could book taxis using Opal cards during a six-month trial in 2021, and in March 2026 ingogo announced it was returning to service in North Sydney after Manly Cabs went into administration. For a merchant, the relevant point is that this is a taxi-industry payment product with a long and eventful corporate history, not a shopfront till.
