Global vAB11 POS — bank compatibility

Point-of-sale system by Automotive Brands Group · All point-of-sale systems

Global vAB11 is a point-of-sale system for retail, built by Automotive Brands Group. The vendor here is not a software house — it is the group that ran Autobarn and Autopro, and it has been sold twice since.

Certified on Linkly, running on premise. Linkly reaches more acquirers than any other middleware in the market, which is why most POS start there.

The Linkly integration runs on premise.

Automotive Brands Group was Australia's largest privately owned distributor and franchise operator in the automotive parts aftermarket — 241 stores when it changed hands, split between 102 Autobarn stores on the retail side and 118 Autopro stores on the trade side, plus a car parts division servicing 21 independents. It was a Dumbrell family business: started by Garry Dumbrell, who bought his first two stores in 1977, and run latterly by his son Paul, the V8 Supercars driver who stepped back from full-time racing to take the CEO job in 2010. The Autobarn brand goes back further, to August 1985, when nine independent retailers led by Amos Bush each chipped in $3,000 to form a buying group in Kew, Victoria.

Metcash bought 75.1% for A$53.8 million, announced 28 June 2012 and declared complete to the ASX on 5 July. Paul Dumbrell kept the remaining 24.9% and joined Metcash's executive team. Metcash then built the division out to ten brands — adding Midas, ABS, Partco and others — before selling the whole lot to Burson Group for A$275 million in June 2015. Burson is now Bapcor. So a record that says 'vendor: Automotive Brands Group' is pointing at a company that stopped existing independently in 2012, and whose brands left its buyer in 2015.

Nothing is published anywhere about a product called Global vAB11, and that figures: this was a parts retailer and franchisor, never a POS vendor. The string reads like a version identifier picked up off the store system in an Autobarn or Autopro shop rather than software anyone sells. If you are a franchisee in that network asking which banks your terminal can reach, the answer sits with Bapcor's arrangements, not with a vendor you can ring.
