Hike is a point-of-sale system for hospitality and retail. A cloud till built in Glen Waverley and sold into fourteen markets by a team you could fit around one table.
Certified on mx51, which is the engine behind several banks’ own terminal offerings rather than something a merchant buys by name.
It handles tipping, phone and mail order and surcharging.
The mx51 integration uses SPI .NET or SPI JavaScript and was last certified in August 2021, on Browser and iOS. mx51 holds 2 separate certified builds for it, so what works depends which one you are on.
Hike POS was founded in 2014 and is headquartered in Glen Waverley, Victoria, with a development office in Ahmedabad, India. The founders are Hiren Savjiyani, founder and co-CEO, Riddhi Savjiyani, and Jay Sutaria, co-founder and director of strategic partnerships. The product is a unified point of sale, payments and e-commerce platform — in-store and online selling, inventory, customer profiles, loyalty, gift cards, multi-store reporting — with accounting and e-commerce links to Xero, MYOB, QuickBooks Online, Shopify, WooCommerce and BigCommerce, and its own HikePay option alongside bring-your-own payments.
It sells well beyond Australia: regional sites run for the US, UK, Canada, New Zealand, Singapore, Hong Kong, Japan, China, India, Kuwait, Nigeria and South Africa, and its published success stories come from the UK, New Zealand, Nigeria, South Africa and the Cook Islands. It is pitched at both retail — clothing, furniture, jewellery, pet — and hospitality, from cafes to food trucks.
The thing to factor in is size. Company profiles put Hike's headcount in the single digits across its two sites, and the statistics block on its own homepage still shows unfilled placeholder counters. That's not a reason to rule it out, but it is the difference you're weighing when you line it up against Lightspeed or Square on support and roadmap.
