HirePOS is a point-of-sale system for general retail and retail. Hire and rental software, which is a different job from retail — the price depends on how long the gear is out, not what it scanned for.

Tyro only. Tyro is its own middleware and its own acquirer, so this one comes with the bank attached — moving bank means a new integration.

The integration covers split bills. Tyro rates it a Power Up partner.

HirePOS is built by Innercircle Technology Pty Ltd and has been serving Australian and New Zealand hire businesses since 2005. It runs in a browser and handles the things a rental counter needs and a retail till does not: time-based pricing, availability across a booking window, quotes that become bookings that become invoices, digital signature capture on handover, faulty and late returns, multi-branch, and accounting sync.

The sectors it names are construction and equipment hire, events and audio-visual, mobility and healthcare equipment, and transport. That is the fit test. If your revenue is a day rate or a week rate against an asset you expect back, this is the right category of software. If you sell stock that leaves and does not return, it is the wrong one — and the directory tagging it under general retail will mislead you on that point.

The payment pattern follows from the model: a deposit or a bond at hire, a balance at return, often card-not-present over the phone for a booking made in advance. Tyro certifies it at Power Up tier. Worth checking in a demo that pre-auth and deposit handling work the way your counter staff actually take money, because that is where hire businesses get caught.

Connected through

A POS reaches a bank through middleware. Each card below is one certified route; the banks it reaches are on the middleware page.
