HivePOS — bank compatibility

HivePOS is a point-of-sale system for retail. Retail Solutions Pty Ltd are behind it, and their own product site is currently throwing an error — which is worth knowing before you call.

Tyro only. Tyro is its own middleware and its own acquirer, so this one comes with the bank attached — moving bank means a new integration.

The integration covers cash out. Tyro rates it a Power Up partner.

HivePOS is a cloud, touch-screen point of sale for retail, from Retail Solutions Pty Ltd. The Tyro certification is a reasonable retail set — integrated purchases, receipts, refunds and cash out — and cash out at the till is the one worth noting, since it is not universal and it matters in suburban and regional retail where the shop doubles as the local ATM.

Beyond that there is very little to find. Their product site at retailposadvantage.com.au returns an unhandled error rather than a page, there is no founding date, customer count or team information available, and the product name returns almost nothing independent. That is not proof of a problem, but it is the opposite of reassuring for a cloud product, where the vendor's own infrastructure is the product.

If you are considering it, treat the diligence as the main task rather than a formality. Get the trading entity confirmed, ask for reference customers you can actually ring, and find out what the support arrangement is in writing before any hardware commitment.
