iDU POS — bank compatibility

iDU is a point-of-sale system for entertainment and leisure, hospitality and retail, built by iDU Identification. an ID scanner that started as a high school project and ended up on 300-plus venue doors.

Certified on mx51, which is the engine behind several banks’ own terminal offerings rather than something a merchant buys by name.

The mx51 integration uses SPI JavaScript and was last certified in May 2025, on iOS.

iDU Identification makes a mobile, wire-free ID scanner that reads licences with optical character recognition, plus a cloud digital sign-in system for members, guests and visitors. Mitch Robinson started the company as a 2016 high school project, then spent two years asking Australian venues what they actually wanted out of a scanner and two more designing and building it. He was 20 when it launched, and is chief executive.

It was approved by the Queensland Office of Liquor and Gaming Regulation in June 2020, which is the gate you have to clear to scan ID in a licensed Queensland venue. The company's own counts differ by page — 300-plus venues on the about page, 400-plus across the United States, Australia and New Zealand on the home page. Named users are mostly Brisbane nightlife and club names: The Caxton Hotel, The Gresham, Solbar Group, Kittens, Savile Row, Paddy's Shenanigans, plus security firms including ANSIC Security and CSO Security Solutions.

There are really two products under one name here, which matters for which venues it suits. The nightlife side is door scanning for pubs, nightclubs and adult entertainment venues. The sign-in side is for sports clubs, community clubs and RSLs, where the job is a member and visitor register rather than an age check.
