Infusion 8.519 (and above) is a point-of-sale system for retail, built by Infusion Business Software. Christchurch-built accounting and job software for trades and wholesalers, now sitting under a merged group with a genomics company for a sibling.
Certified on Linkly, running on premise. Linkly reaches more acquirers than any other middleware in the market, which is why most POS start there.
The Linkly integration runs on premise.
Infusion Business Software was founded in Christchurch in 1993 and still runs out of there, with support offices in Auckland, the Bay of Plenty, South Canterbury and — the Australian end — Cairns. CEO Tim Shaw; around 25 staff at the time of the 2023 merger. Fusion Online, controlled by interests related to Shaw, holds 57.2% of the group's shares.
In April 2023 Infusion merged with NetValue Ltd, a Hamilton firm established in 2004 with 65-plus staff and contractors including eleven PhDs, under CEO Graham Gaylard. The merger took effect 1 April 2023 and no price or share split was disclosed. The parent is now Infusion Group Ltd, with Infusion New Zealand, Infusion Australia, NetValue and Real Time Genomics Ltd as wholly owned subsidiaries. The niche is SMEs in retail, wholesale and distribution, job-shop manufacturing, and trades and services — building supplies, cleaning supplies, packaging, that sort of customer.
Two things to be straight about. The customer count depends entirely who you ask: 2023 trade press said over 3,500 customers across Australasia, while the company's current site says 1,000-plus NZ-wide. And '8.519' is not a product name, it is a desktop build number — the actual products are Infusion Desktop, Infusion Online, Infusion Mobile and the retail, wholesale and jobs editions. The site also still says 100% New Zealand owned and operated, which after the merger is worth reading as a statement about the group, not the original company.
