iPOS, iCAFE, iWASH is a point-of-sale system for hospitality and quick service. Brisbane-made, independently owned, and it covers an odd pair of trades — cafes and carwashes — off the one platform.

Tyro only. Tyro is its own middleware and its own acquirer, so this one comes with the bank attached — moving bank means a new integration.

Imagatec is an Australian POS developer based in Brisbane, where it keeps its head office and its development team. Trevor Turnbull is Director and Software Architect; Brian Howard-Clarke is Managing Director. The company says hundreds of clients run its software and points to Hogs Breath Café and Montezuma's as examples — franchise groups rather than one-offs. It is also one of the last hospitality POS vendors of any scale in this market still in local hands, at a time when nearly every competitor has been acquired by a North American group.

The product set is modular and literally named: iPOS for the counter, iCafe and iPizza for food service variants, iWash for carwashes, and iWarehouse, iOrder and iPortal for the back end and ordering. The core is pitched as built for cafes and restaurants, then stretched to quick service and to carwashes and carwash cafes. That last category is a real specialisation — a carwash sale is a service with upsells, no table, and high throughput at peak — and almost nobody else in this market builds for it deliberately.

Imagatec offers both store-based and cloud deployment, and it shows up as an integration partner across several payment providers rather than being tied to one. For a merchant that is good news: you have room to negotiate. The two things to pin down before you do are which module your site runs and whether it is on-premise or cloud, because those decide which terminals and which integration path are actually available to you.
